From Web Platform to Mobile Field App

Different contexts need different products

A management web platform supports configuration, review and reporting. A field app supports a person completing one task under time and connectivity pressure. Treating mobile as a smaller web screen creates clutter and errors.

The Clean Green Pakistan ecosystem combined indexing and evaluation on the web with champion participation through mobile. The product boundary followed the work.

Design the field flow

Start with the smallest useful action. Make status visible, minimise typing, support photo or location evidence only where justified, and preserve progress during interruptions.

Offline or unreliable connectivity requires a clear local queue, safe retry and conflict rules. Users should always know whether information is saved locally, submitted or needs attention.

One programme, one model

Web and mobile experiences should share definitions, identity and audit history. APIs need versioning and clear validation responses.

The result should feel like one programme seen through two contexts—not two applications that gradually disagree.
